Who We Are

We're not your typical architecture firm - and honestly, that's kinda the point.

Our Story

Started in a cramped Vancouver co-working space back in 2012, Mythral Forge wasn't even supposed to be a thing. Three of us - Sarah, Marcus, and I - kept complaining about how modern buildings just... missed the mark. They either looked cool but wasted energy like crazy, or they were 'green' but had all the personality of a cardboard box.

So we figured, why not do both? Design spaces that actually feel alive while respecting the planet we're building on. Turns out, people wanted that too. What started as weekend passion projects turned into our first commercial contract, then another, and well... here we are.

We've grown from that cramped desk situation to a team of 15, but we've kept the same approach - question everything, don't follow trends blindly, and make sure every project tells its own story. Our office is still in Vancouver (bigger now, thankfully), and we're still as obsessed with sustainable design as we were on day one.

Our Journey

2012

The Beginning

Three architects, one vision, and way too much coffee. Mythral Forge Architecture officially launched with our first residential project in East Vancouver.

2015

Going Commercial

Landed our first major commercial project - a mixed-use development in Kitsilano that set the tone for our sustainable urban approach. Also moved out of that tiny co-working space.

2018

Recognition & Growth

Won the BC Sustainable Architecture Award. Team grew to 10 people. Started getting calls from across Canada, which was pretty surreal honestly.

2021

Heritage Focus

Launched our heritage restoration division after falling in love with a Gastown project. Turns out old buildings have stories worth preserving.

2025

Today

15 team members, over 200 completed projects, and still learning something new with every building we touch. The passion hasn't changed - just the scale.

What Drives Us

🌱

Sustainability First

Not as a buzzword, but as a non-negotiable. Every material choice, every design decision - we're thinking about what it means 50 years from now.

🎯

Context Matters

A building shouldn't just plop down anywhere. We spend time understanding the neighborhood, the history, the people who'll actually use the space.

💡

Innovation Without Ego

We love trying new approaches, but only if they actually solve problems. Cool tech for its own sake? That's not our thing.

Meet The Team

We're a mixed bag - architects who code, engineers who sketch, urbanists who get their hands dirty. That's kinda what makes it work.

Sarah Chen

Sarah Chen

Founding Partner & Lead Architect

The one who started this whole thing. Sarah's background in environmental science shows in every project she touches - she can tell you the carbon footprint of pretty much any building material off the top of her head.

Marcus Rivera

Marcus Rivera

Co-Founder & Urban Planning Director

Marcus thinks in city blocks, not just buildings. He's the reason our projects actually make sense in their neighborhoods. Also makes the best coffee in the office, which is important.

Elena Kowalski

Elena Kowalski

Heritage Restoration Lead

Joined us in 2019 and basically created our entire heritage division. Elena can spot original crown molding from across the street and knows more about Victorian-era construction than seems humanly possible.

James Park

James Park

Sustainable Design Specialist

James is our tech guy who's obsessed with passive house standards and building performance. He runs energy models like other people binge Netflix shows.

Priya Sharma

Priya Sharma

Interior Architecture Lead

Priya makes sure the inside of our buildings are as thoughtful as the outside. She's got this uncanny ability to understand how people will actually move through and use a space.

David Thomson

David Thomson

Commercial Projects Director

David handles our bigger commercial work and somehow keeps everything on schedule. Former contractor, which means he actually knows how buildings get built, not just designed.
